Linda Williams Victorious in BCGBA Ladies Merit

Thanks to Jeanette Higham for this report.

One of our all time greats did it again. On Saturday 13th July in Cumbria, Linda Williams won the British Ladies Merit. This title was one that eluded her for a number of years. However, in 2012 she took the title and did it again this year.

In the first round she beat Sue Gawne from the Isle of Man 21-15. She was in more devastating form for her second game winning 21-8 over Samantha Murrey from Staffordshire.. Another 21-8 in the last 16 and Linda was comfortably in the quarter finals.

Here, Linda scored 21-15 against Elaine Rigby from North Derbyshire. In the semi final, she faced Louise Ollerton from Greater Manchester and won this game 21-12. Staying on course, she took the title with a 21-10 win over Cheryl Caswell from Shropshire.

Linda makes it look easy but she takes nothing for granted. Her love of the game shines through whether she is playing at this level or involved in bringing the game to others.  Well done.
