BCGBA Veterans County Bowls Championship 2026

Please see a message below from Mike Barrodale, Welsh Veterans Team Manager.

This year the BCGBA Veterans County Bowls Championship will take place on the Min Y Don Green in Old Colwyn on Thursday 9th July.

The games start at 10 AM prompt and finish at about 5:30 PM and all team members should arrive by 9:30 AM at the latest unless you have already informed me that you will be slightly late in arriving.

The Welsh games are against the Potteries, Greater Manchester and Cheshire although the order has yet to be confirmed. All matches are 8 a side, 21 up but each player starts with three points on his scorecard.

I have selected the following team to represent Wales:

Barry Harris Beaumaris

Graham Bennett Cunliffe

Mike Chamberlain Rhos Park

Ivor Jones Rhos Park

Elfyn Jones Denbigh

Frances Penlington Broughton

Mark Ball Vardre Deganwy

Kevin Nicholas Gresford Colliery

Gareth M Williams Craig Y Don

Gary Roberts Craig Y Don

I have one spare red shirt but will any player without a red Wales shirt let me know the size required as soon as possible. All players must adhere to the BCGBA rules on dress i.e. a County Shirt. Black or Navy trousers, no open top footwear or hard block heeled shoes.

Please try to arrange transport for yourselves but if this proves to be problematic let me know of the issue in good time on 01745591337 or on 07798726174 so that we have a chance to overcome the problem.

Supporters will be very welcome on the day. All host counties are providing refreshments to purchase so please support the host club. I have been informed that on the day Min Y Don will be offering hot and cold drinks, sausage and bacon baps, toasties, freshly filled rolls, burgers, cakes, crisps, chocolate bars etc. It is cash only as they don’t have the facilities for card payments.
