Dave Matthias, the WCGBA Official at the away game reported

‘Well after a disastrous Saturday Night phone call from Manager Joey, to say that due to unfortunate and unforseen circumstances, there would be no official coach to take the Welsh Team to Bolton this Sunday morning, Plan Z had to be implemented.
So big thank you to Dave Chadwick, Michael Pritchard and Leighton Roberts especially, for volunteering to drive themselves, the players and myself this morning to the Bar Lane Bowling Club in Astley Bridge, Bolton for today’s away match with Lancashire.
It ended up of course being a “Winning Day” for the Welsh Lads, with the Home Team (at Esclusham B.C.) winning 9/3 in games and plus 48 on the aggregate and the Away Team battling hard, even though they went down 5/7 in games and minus 28 on the aggregate.
So overall a plus 20 point win for Wales, which means they don’t play again until the first Sunday in July, when they take on North Midlands (I think), in what could be a Group Winning decider.
As the Welsh CGBA “Official in Charge” today, I’d like to congratulate both teams on their performances. Also my thanks go out to the travelling reserves Neil Hayes, Danny Prosser and Paul Latham for making the effort to attend and also support the away team today.
See you all again in July and hopefully another winning performance for the Welsh Team.’
John Sparks attending the home leg said
‘Really great to see the County Bowling Championship up and running again excellent performance by Wales at Esclusham & notable performances from Kris Charlton, Chris Edwards, Jay Salisbury & Geraint Williams , good start for Ste Vernon on his debut played really well to beat Chris Cooke also steady performances from Paul Hallet & Jason Jones, but games of day were from Robin Bennet & Adam Penlington who both had very tough opponents.’
