Steve Lawley

As a highly experienced Club and County Bowler, Steve Lawley has all the attributes required to take on the best players that this Country has to offer! Steve is a calm player who has a fantastic brain for the game, always thinking and weighing up his next move in order to gain an advantage within his game. Steve is well respected within the game and nobody can argue with that! He has been around the game for many years and has enjoyed season upon season of playing Bowls at the highest standards and for one of the most consistent Club Sides of the last decade.

Steve has played Bowls for as long as he can probably remember and if he was not following his Father Ian Lawley around the greens he was peppering the Jack during school lunch times at Eirias Park, honing his game and learning the skills that have made him such a wonderfully talented bowler today. Steve has of course gone on to have a very prestigious Bowling career and has represented Wales on many occasion, serving up some phenomenal performances, winning man of the match at Betwys-yn-Rhos in 2008 after a staggering 21-0 victory and this season winning with a gutsy performance at Craig-y-don under incredibly difficult conditions.

Steve is also a regular during many of the areas Open competitions and is 3 times Rhos Park Open Champion, winning the crown after competing against an extremely strong field of competition such is the prestige of the Tournament! Proving, beyond any doubt that Steve is a quality player who is capably of just about anything!

At club level Steve has done it all! He has been the League Averages winner in the Llandudno and Colwyn Midweek League on numerous occasions and has also won the same honour while playing for his long time club Rhos Park in the North Wales Coast League where he has also won the end of seasons merit competitions, proving he is both a consistent performer and a man with a huge competitive nature to his game!

During Steve’s time with Rhos Park he has been part of an impressive squad that has won just about everything within their area! Steve has won multiple Llandudno and Colwyn Midweek League Championships, 8 North Wales Coast League Championships and a host of Cup competitions including 3 Binns Cup Finals and has also been an important part of a Rhos Park team that finished an impressive 2^nd place in the Blackwell Hydraulics Welsh Counties League (Super League) where Steve holds a very good win to loss ratio.

Steve is an unassuming character and is a very likable man but on the green he is as deadly as anybody and should never be taken lightly! Steve has a great all around game and is a different class when presented with a fast green! Llanfair PG may be well up his street and as a big game player expect Steve Lawley to be fighting well into the later rounds of this Competition today!
