Paul Walley
After developing his art at Grove Park Bowling
Club in 1992, Paul Walley has developed into one of
the most gifted players on the Welsh bowling circuit and has built a solid
reputation as a high level County Bowler having made a large number of
appearances for his country.
Paul Walley showed
his incredible pedigree at an early age while playing for the Don James led
Welsh Junior County team that won an impressive 3 British Team Championships in
a row. Paul was a steady winner during this successful Welsh run and was at the
forefront of many of the team’s matches, helping them break records galore
during an excellent period. Paul of course has gone on to represent his Country
at the highest levels of the game and has been a stalwart of the squad for many
years. Paul has earned a vast amount of caps while playing in some of Wales
biggest matches over the last 10 years and has become a house hold name among
bowling fans around North Wales and at just 32 years old there are plenty more
caps to be won by such talented individual and such a spirited team player.
At Junior level Paul
also forged a reputation within singles competitions. On three occasions Paul
reached the last 8 of the Welsh Junior Merit and also won the North Wales
Junior Parks singles two years in a row in 1994 and 1995. In 1996, Paul was a
Semi-Finalist at the Junior Waterloo Tournament and 12 years later, Paul
returned to Blackpool to take part in the Waterloo Tournament
at Senior Level and finished in the last 8 which was an incredible achievement!
Closer to home, Paul has won a string of Open singles and doubles competitions
around the North Wales area and has qualified for the Finals of the Welsh Merit
on numerous occasions proving his consistency as one of Wales best bowlers .
At club level Paul has played for a host of
clubs in the in the North Wales Coast League such as Rhos
Park, Dyserth and Copperfields.
Paul now plays for the current League Champions, Colwyn Bay Legion where he is a pivotal member of the team
winning most of his matches. Since 1994 Paul has been an ever present at
Sunny Rhyl where he has played in the Flintshire Midweek League and the Blackwell Hydraulics
Welsh Counties League (Super League) where he has enjoyed huge success as one
of their stand out players. Paul has also played for Richmond in the Manchester
Premier Division.
Paul Walley is a ridiculously
skillful left handed player who has a slick delivery and can play a wide
variety of different marks. Paul will enjoy the well maintained surface at Llanfair
PG as it will no doubt bring out the best in his game. Paul is one of the games
true gentlemen and is a very approachable character who will take the time to
speak to anybody that shares his huge passion for the game. Paul is clearly one
of today’s favorites and will be tough competition for anybody!
